Wingate Sweeps Limestone

The Bulldogs established five new pool records, including two individual marks by freshman Iaroslav Denysenko (Poltava, Ukraine). In his first home appearance, Denysenko won the 500 Freestyle (4:39.94) and the 1650 Freestyle (16:09.83). He was one of three Wingate student-athletes to take two individuals each.
 
Freshman Tim Kniffler (Mulheim, Germany) won the 100 Backstroke (52.76) and the 200 Backstroke (1:53.17). The 200 Backstroke time was a pool record. Freshman Liubomyr Lemeshko (Poltava, Ukraine) won the 100 Butterfly (53.52) and the 200 Butterfly (1:53.65).
 
Bulldog newcomer Marko Blazevski (Skopje, Macedonia) earned a new pool record in the 400 Individual Medley with his triumphant time of 4:06.76. Wingate’s won the 800 Freestyle Relay with a pool record time of 7:00.29. Denysenko, Lemeshko and Blazevski were joined in the quartet by sophomore Spencer Waganaar (Satellite Beach, Fla.).
 
Wingate won 11 of the 13 events Saturday. For Limestone, sophomore Lance Maxwell (Vienna, Austria) won two times. He touched first in the 50 Freestyle (21.44) and the 100 Freestyle (47.23).
 
Individually, three Bulldogs won twice each in the big victory. Wingate sophomore Elly Speer (Sydney, Australia) won the 200 Freestyle (2:03.45) and the 200 Butterfly (2:15.62). Freshman Alexandra Andrechuk (Ajax, Ontario, Canada) touched first in the 400 Individual Medley (4:41.94) and the 200 Breaststroke (2:29.37). Classmate Valerie Dembny (Bremen, Germany) took two gold medals in the 100 Butterfly (1:00.12) and the 100 Freestyle (55.31).
 
Wingate sophomore Paige Schmidt (Clearwater, Fla.) established a pool record with her victorious time of 17:51.83 in the 1650 Freestyle. The Bulldogs won 11 of the 13 events Saturday.
