January 22nd, 2011
Washington & Jefferson College freshman Isabella Diaz (Walnut Creek, Calif./Las Lomas) was part of three victories to help the Presidents’ women’s swimming and diving team remain undefeated after a 151.5-111.5 victory at Penn State-Behrend on Saturday afternoon.

The W&J women are now 11-0 overall and are looking for their first undefeated dual-meet record since the 2004-05 squad notched a 13-0 mark.  The Presidents’ men (6-3-1) dropped a 157-128 decision.

Diaz claimed the 500 (5:36.51) and 1000 (11:22.81) freestyle events, while also helping the 400 freestyle relay (3:54.17) notch the final race.  Freshmen Zoe Levenson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Allderdice), Rosemarie O’Connor (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) and Jenna Supp (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) joined Diaz on the winning relay.

On the men’s side, W&J collected three individual winners.  Senior Brandon Smith (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) won the 200 backstroke (2:07.29), while classmate Christian Larson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) earned first place in the 50 freestyle (22.64).

Junior Jonathan Weeks (Donora, Pa./Ringgold) rounded out the W&J victors with a first-place touch in the 200 butterfly (2:03.69).
