The VMI women?s swimming and diving team concluded competition at Mount St. Mary?s Saturday, facing off in a series of duals for the second consecutive day.
The Keydets? top performance was a third-place finish in the 200-meter breaststroke by freshman Flora Edelbrock, who clocked in at 3:12.85. All told, that was the team?s only podium finish of the day, as VMI dropped all three duals, losing to Saint Peter?s 121-46, Mount St. Mary?s 143-39 and Manhattan 131-37.
VMI did post a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle relay, as Chelsea Nugent, Mia Cunicelli, Hannah Donovan and Veronica Lentsch clocked in at 4:38.65. Nugent then returned for a fifth-place effort in the 200-meter individual medley (2:41.97), and teamed with Edelbrock, Cunicelli and Caroline Pryor for a fourth-place result in the 200-meter medley relay.
Donovan, Lentsch and Meghan Doss swam the 50 and 100-meter freestyle races for the second straight day, with solid results to show for it. Lentsch was fourth in the 50-meter distance (30.77), while Doss and Donovan were sixth and seventh. In the longer distance, Doss was fifth (1:09.29), while Donovan and Lentsch were seventh and eighth.
VMI women?s swimming and diving will return to action next Saturday, Nov. 6, taking on Liberty and Gardner-Webb in Lynchburg, Va. The meet is scheduled to start at noon.
