Indiana, Indianapolis, Texas and Emory Claim Top Honors

Two
pool records paired with two NCAA "B" times for Kate Fesenko (Indiana
University) and multiple NCAA time standards for Guy Kogel (University
of Indianapolis) earned them the Counsilman Hunsaker National
Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week Honors. Also earning the award were
Ricky Berens (University of Texas), Erica Smith (University of
Indianapolis),Ruth Westby (Emory University), and John Petroff (Emory
University). The six won the award based on their performances for the
week of October 19-25.
Division I Women
Kateryna Fesenko, Indiana University
Fesenko (Kharkov, Ukraine)
had three wins in the 156-144 dual meet victory over Northwestern
University. The senior won the 100 backstroke (53.71, pool record and
NCAA "B" time), the 200 backstroke (1:56.10, pool record and NCAA "B"
time) and the 100 butterfly (54.73). The Olympian also swam on the
winning 200 medley relay (1:44.21).
Division I Men
Ricky Berens, University of Texas
Berens (Charlotte, NC)
had two wins in the Longhorns fist place finish at the Southwest
Collegiate Plunge. The senior won the 100 butterfly (48.35) and the
100 backstroke (48.71, NCAA "B" time). The Olympian also assisted on
the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:22.42), the winning 200 medley relay
(1:30.81), the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:03.07) and the winning
400 medley relay (3:20.04).
Division II Women
Erica Smith, University of Indianapolis
Smith (Ft. Wanye, IN)
had two wins in the double dual meet losses to Wayne State (266-176),
Truman State (252-158) and Ashland University (226-209). The senior
won the 100 butterfly (57.95, NCAA "B" time), the 200 butterfly
(2:08.83, NCAA "B" time) and swam to a second place finish in 200
individual medley (2:11.63, NCAA "B" time). Smith also swam on the
third place 200 freestyle relay (1:38.35), the fourth place 200 medley
relay (1:51.59), and the fourth place 400 medley relay (4:01.26).
Division II Men
Guy Kogel, University of Indianapolis
Kogel (Nahalal, Israel)
had three wins in the double dual victory over Truman State (242-184)
and losses to Wayne State (199-244) and Ashland (179-256). The
sophomore won the 50 freestyle (21.40), the 100 freestyle (46.94, NCAA
"B" time), the 200 freestyle (1:42.16, NCAA "B" time) and the 100
butterfly (49.89, NCAA "A" time). Kogel also assisted on the second
place 200 medley relay (1:37.26) and the second place 400 medley relay
(3:31.69).
Division III Women
Ruth Westby, Emory University
Westby (Dunwoody, GA)
had one win in the 164-130 dual meet victory over Davidson. The senior
won the 200 freestyle (1:54.25, NCAA "B" time) and swam to a second
place finish in the 100 freestyle (52.18, NCAA "B" time). Wesby also
swam on the winning 200 medley relay (1:47.19, NCAA "B" time) and the
exhibition 200 freestyle relay (1:35.82, NCAA "B" time).
Division III Men 
John Petroff, Emory University
Petroff (Springfield, OH)
had two wins in the169-106 dual meet victory over Davidson. The senior
won the 100 butterfly (51.13, NCAA "B" time) and the 200 butterfly
(1:55.16). Petroff also assisted on the winning 200 medley relay
(1:35.69) and the exhibition 200 freestyle relay (1:30.31).
