UNLV Men, BYU Women Picked to Climb Mountain West Summit

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. , October 8th, 2009           
UNLV is favored to win the 2009-10 Mountain West Conference regular-season title in men's swimming and diving, while BYU has been selected to capture the women's crown as voted on by the league's head coaches.

UNLV collected five first-place votes and a total of 25 points to capture the top spot in the men's poll. BYU received the remaining first-place nod and totaled 18 points for second place. Air Force claimed third position with 17 points, and Wyoming landed in fourth with 16 points. TCU and Utah were picked to tie for fifth with seven points each.

On the women's side, BYU received seven first-place votes and garnered 63 points to finish atop the women's poll. UNLV and San Diego State collected one first-place vote apiece, as the Rebels finished second with 54 total points and the Aztecs third with 49 points. Wyoming claimed the fourth spot with 42 points, followed by Colorado State with 38 points and Utah with 30 points. TCU (25 points), New Mexico (14 points) and Air Force (nine points) round out the poll finishing seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.
