Wisconsin-Green Bay Sweeps Valpo

VALPARAISO MEN
Despite a pair of event victories on Friday evening, the Valparaiso men’s swimming and diving team dropped a 118-74 decision to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in Green Bay, Wis.
Austin Hunter (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent H.S.) earned a win in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.57 seconds, posting a .26 second triumph for the Brown and Gold.
David Sivak (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) also earned a victory on Friday night, cruising to a five-and-a-half second triumph in the 200 individual medley. The junior touched the wall in 1:59.52.
Blake Edwards (Orange, Calif./Lutheran H.S. of Orange County) added a pair of top-three finished on the day as well. The lone senior on the squad finished second in the 1000 free with a time of 10:21.27 while posting the third fastest time of the day in the 100 free with a mark of 50.63 seconds.
Valparaiso (0-5) will conclude its trip in the state of Wisconsin on Saturday morning, taking on Milwaukee. The first race begins at 10 a.m.
VALPARAISO WOMEN
Valparaiso’s women’s swimming and diving team dropped a 121-75 meet to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Friday evening in Green Bay, Wis.
Laura Rickey (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville H.S.) turned in a pair of fourth place finishes for the Crusaders on the evening. The junior began with a time of 26.36 in the 50 freestyle before posting a mark of 56.46 seconds in 100 free.
Stephanie Ferschl (Schaumburg, Ill./Conant H.S.) was the fourth fastest individual in the 1000 free, touching the wall in 11:22.54 while Rachel Majercik (Schaumburg, Ill./Conant H.S.) earned the same position in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:16.71.
Justine Barnes (Rochester Hills, Mich./Adams H.S.) placed fourth in the 100 butterfly finishing in 1:03.54 while Amy Andracki (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect H.S.) was the fourth fastest of the day in the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:12.03.
Valpo (0-5) will head to Milwaukee, Wis. on Saturday morning to face the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in a 10 a.m. meet.
