Westminster College swept Washington & Jefferson College in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference men's and women's swimming and diving meet on Wednesday evening.
The Lady Titans recorded a 170-127 victory to snap a three-year losing streak to the Presidents (3-1, 0-1 PAC). The Titan men notched a 176-118 triumph.
The Washington & Jefferson women were led by sophomore Katie Steider’s (Cochranton, Pa./Meadville) two victories. Steider helped the 400 freestyle relay squad earn a victory in the meet’s final race (3:45.96) and also claimed the 100 backstroke (1:02.08).
Sophomore Bethany Haver (Akron, Ohio/Harvey S. Firestone) was victorious in both diving events. She posted 216.10 points in the 1-meter event and then racked up 224.70 points on the 3-meter board. Freshman Katlin Dagg (Mentor, Ohio/Hawken) also won the 200 butterfly (2:16.58).
Sophomore Brandon Smith (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) and freshman John Szott (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) notched the lone men’s victories. Smith touched first in the 200 IM (2:03.59), while Szott earned the top spot on the 1-meter diving board with 189.70 points.
Washington & Jefferson returns to action Saturday at the Kenyon College Quad Meet.
