Wisconsin-Milwaukee Sweeps Border Battle
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming & diving team used a strong performance in the third session of the "Border Battle" Saturday afternoon to pull away and claim the team title in the weekend meet. The Panthers led by 165 points following the morning session, but went on to win four of five events in the evening session to claim the team crown. Milwaukee finished with 976 points to easily top second-place Wisconsin-Stevens Point, which had 712.5. Rounding out the field was South Dakota in third with 668.5 and Minnesota State Mankato fourth with 660 points.
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's swimming & diving team dominated both sessions of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point "Border Battle" Saturday in earning the team title. The Panthers won six of eight events in the morning session before adding victories in four of five events in the evening session to end the meet with 949 points. That easily topped the second-place host Pointers, who finished with 809 points. Rounding out the field was South Dakota in third with 629 and Minnesota State Mankato fourth with 546 points. Nathan Welchlin continued his impressive freshman campaign, adding two more individual victories while also swimming with two winning relay teams.
