The Georgia swimming and diving teams swept their competitions with Emory on Wednesday at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
The Bulldogs (1-2) earned their first victory of the season, posting a 147-80 victory. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 3-0 with a 145-92 win, extending their home win streak to 67 straight since the 1995-96 season.
“The kids did a good job tonight.” Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. “By and large, we swam pretty solid. This meet gave us an opportunity to move some people around a little bit and try to find some other events because everybody has to swim something besides their very best at conference. So generally, it was a good meet.”
“It was a different meet for the divers,” Georgia diving coach Dan Laak said. “It was in the middle of the week, they rushed here right after classes and they didn’t get as much warm-up time because the swim meets went pretty fast. Overall, they did a pretty good job, so now it’s time to regroup and get ready for Auburn.”
Martin Kata was a double winner for the Bulldogs. He won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:41.95 and the 100-yard freestyle in 47.01. Owen Blank claimed the 3-meter springboard with 306.45 points and had the highest total off the 1-meter with 289.35.

Andrew Gemmell took the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:25.62. The 50-yard freestyle was captured by Kevin Frankenfeld in 21.25. Peter Benner won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:53.38. Arnold was victorious in the 100-yard butterfly, winning in 50.29. Chris Thompson took the 100-yard backstroke in 51.58. Mark Dylla claimed the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:37.33. Joe Redmon had the top time in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a 58.66. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Dylla, Thompson, Benner and Frankenfeld had the meet’s fastest time of 1:26.16.

The Lady Bulldogs kicked off the competition as Kelsey Gaid, Colleen Haase, Allison Schmitt and Kristen Shickora won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:45.80. Kelsey Scott won the 1,000-yard freestyle as she touched in 10:23.87. Wendy Trott claimed the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.25. Shickora won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:07.54.
