Geneseo Sweeps Oswego

The SUNY-Geneseo men's swimming and diving team extended their season dual record to 11-0 and their dual meet winning streak to 31 in a row with a 171-126 win at Oswego this afternoon. Geneseo had three individuals win two events each. Senior Clint Sugnet won the 50-yard freestyle (22.31) and the 200 back (2:00.41), sophomore Wills DeMoulin won the one-meter diving with an NCAA qualifying mark of 293.65 points and the three-meter diving with 284.90 points and junior Matt Valvo won the 100 and 200 breast events in 1:03.34 and 2:16.97. Geneseo posted six other winners as Dan Szajta won the 200 free in 1:56.41, Russell Sullivan captured the 100 back in 55.61, Jamie Matthews touched first in the 200 fly in 2:04.91, first year Ken Pink won the 500 free in 5:00.41, Josh Kaplan took the 100 fly in 56.18 and Aaron Wagner won the 200 IM in 2:00.53. Geneseo heads to the 2009 SUNYAC Championships at Erie Community College on February 12-14 as the 10-time defending champions.
The women's swimming and diving team traveled to Oswego this afternoon and won a 157-140 decision. First year Alex Dockstader won three events and participated on one winning relay to lead Geneseo. Dockstader won the 50-yard freestyle (24.95), the 100 freestyle (54.36), the 200 IM (2:13.66) and combined with senior Jessie Cocco and sophomores Jennifer Anthone and Michelle Rodriguez to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:51.93. Rodriguez and Sierra Achin were double winners as the former won the 200 free in 1:57.04 and the 500 free in 5:15.60 and the latter won the 100 and 200 breaststroke events in 1:09.66 and 2:28.60, respectively. Senior Lindsay Dressel won the 200 fly in 2:16.30, Liz Krause captured the 100 back in 1:20.27 and Anthone won the 100 fly in 1:01.32. Geneseo completes the dual meet season at 11-0 and will defend their SUNYAC title at Erie Community College on February 12-14.
