Franklin & Marshall Swim Past McDaniel 125-54

LANCASTER, PA , January 30th, 2009           
Olivia Hill won three events to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 125-54 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s swimming action on Friday.

            The Diplomats (6-4, 5-0 CC) won the first eight events to down the Green Terror (0-7, 0-5 CC) to remain undefeated in conference action.

            On the men’s side, Franklin & Marshall (4-5, 4-0 CC) downed McDaniel (2-5, 0-5 CC) by a 119-46 margin behind wins in the first eight events.

            Hill won the 200 free (2:02.61), 500 free (5:21.38) and 100 butterfly (1:02.87). Brittany McCabe was also a triple winner for the Diplomats, including individual victories in the 50 free (25.40) and 100 backstroke (59.45) while Jennie Payne was a double winner with a individual win coming in the 100 free (55.92).

            Rachel Walega (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) earned the victory in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.17 for the Green Terror’s lone individual win.

            Tom Grabiak and Matt Jaffee recorded two-win outings for the Franklin & Marshall men. The duo was part of the 200 medley relay before winning the 200 free (1:49.95) and 100 free (49.19), respectively.

            James Eu (Reston, Va./Hargrave Military Academy) was victorious in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.51) for the lone McDaniel win.

            The Green Terror returns to action at home against Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Meet time is 1 p.m.
