Freshmen Andy Rish (North East, Pa./Cathedral Prep) and Katie Steider (Cochranton, Pa./Meadville) both won three events to lead Washington & Jefferson College’s swimming and diving sweep of Saint Vincent on Wednesday evening.
The Presidents’ men (7-3) collected a 116-82 victory, while the women’s squad (12-1) notched a 105-68 win.
Rish claimed the 50 (22.36) and 100 (49.62) freestyle events, while also leading the 200 medley relay (1:41.68) to an opening win.
Steider also touched first in the 50 (26.08) and 100 (56.40) freestyles after swimming a leg on the winning 200 medley relay (1:57.16).
Freshmen Brittany Vogel (Butler, Pa./Butler) and Michael Boutwell (Winchester, Va./John Handley) also continued their strong seasons with two wins. Vogel earned first place in the 100 backstroke (1:03.57) and 1000 freestyle (11:17.95), while Boutwell notched wins in the 500 (5:02.48) and 1000 (10:29.66) freestyle events.
Freshman Sarah Cull (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) also posted a pair of wins for the Presidents’ women. She swam the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:37.16 and then racked up a mark of 5:08.07 in the 400 IM.
Washington & Jefferson rounds out the dual-meet portion of its schedule on Saturday when traveling to Hiram for a 1:00 pm meet.
