
The Westminster College men's and women's swimming teams each lost at Carnegie Mellon on Saturday in a non-conference dual meet. The Titans (5-2) men lost 151-111 and the Titan women (4-4) lost 153-109. Carnegie Mellon's men's and women's teams improved their records to 7-2 for the season.
Junior freestyler Emily Dressler (Hummelstown, Pa./Mount Calvary Christian) broke an 18-year-old school record for the Titan women. Dressler's first-place time of 5:10.30 in the 500-yard freestyle beat Maureen Deagen's mark of 5:10.31 at the 1991 the NAIA National Championships. Dressler also won the 1650 freestyle with a time of 18:00.16.
The Westminster women took three other events, including freshman Caitlin Lehberger (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) winning the 100 (1:07.20) and 200 (2:26.66) breaststrokes. Senior Megan Mier (Copley, Ohio/Revere) captured the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.37.
Senior Conor Simpson (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) won two events for the Titan men as he captured the 100 (52.88) and 200 (1:58.20) butterfly races.
Senior Stephen Burns (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) touched first in the 50 freestyle (21.59) while also helping the Titan men capture the 400 freestyle relay (3:15.20).
Senior Chris Lehberger (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) completed Westminster's five event wins by taking the 200 breaststroke (2:08.56).
Westminster will travel to Grove City for a conference dual meet on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. start.
