Northeastern Defeats Vermont in Swimming and Diving

Boston, Mass. , January 24th, 2009           

The University of Vermont women's swimming and diving team fell to Northeastern on Saturday afternoon 172-128 on the road. The Catamounts have dropped their last two meets and are now 8-4-1 overall on the season.

Sophomore Kate Weaver (South Burlington, Vt.) led the Catamounts with three wins on the day. Weaver took first place in the 100 and 200 backstroke events, as well as in the 200 IM. Junior Colleen Clark (Unionville, Conn.) earned a pair of victories as she finished first in the 100 and 200 freestyle events. Junior Molly MacMillan (Doylestown, Pa.) was also victorious in the 500 freestyle.

Vermont returns to action on Saturday in its final home meet of the season, as the Cats host Bryant at 10 a.m. Saturday will mark the final meet at Forbush Natatorium for seven Catamount seniors, as they will be honored prior to the meet as part of "Senior Day."
