McDaniel splits with Susquehanna

WESTMINSTER, Md. , January 24th, 2009           

Three swimmers recorded four-win days to lead McDaniel to a 70-52 victory over Susquehanna in men’s swimming action on Saturday.

In the 14-event meet, the Green Terror (2-4) won 10 events while the Crusaders (6-4) touched first in four.

On the women’s side, Susquehanna (4-7) defeated McDaniel (0-6) 71-51, winning nine events.

Morgan DeHart (Salisbury, Md./Wiciomico) and James Eu (Reston, Va./Hargrave Military Academy) opened their four-win day as part of the 200 medley relay, which won in a time of 1:44.12.

DeHart added individual wins in the 1000 free (10::35.46) and 500 free (5:03.41) while Eu was victorious in the 200 free (1:51.06) and 100 free (50.64).

The duo partnered with Stephen Gomez (Charlottesville, Va./Albermmarle) and Zach Norfolk (Glen Burnie, Md./Calvary Baptist) to close the meet with a victory in the 200 free relay (1:33.49).

Gomez added three individual wins, touching first in the 200 butterfly (2:02.31), 200 backstroke (2:08.0) and 200 IM (2:06.53).

Scott Cammarata (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley), who joined Norfolk with DeHart and Eu on the opening relay, added a victory in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.87 seconds.

Rachel Walega (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) was part of three of the five wins for the McDaniel women, touching first in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes with times of 1:11.98 and 2:39.90, respectively. She was also part of the 200 free relay, which won with a time of 1:48.17.

Jessica Fry (St. Mary’s, Ga./Camden County) notched the other two victories with wins in the 1000 free (11:23.89) and 200 IM (2:26.34).

McDaniel returns to action at Franklin & Marshall on Friday. Meet time is 6 p.m.
