The Arizona swimming and diving teams received strong efforts from freshman A.J. Tipton and senior Lara Jackson as well as divers Ainsley Oliver and Ben Grado in routing the California Golden Bears today at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center. The men won by the score of 171.5-128.5 while the women topped Cal, 178-120.
Tipton, a freshman out of Knoxville, Tenn., won both the 100 and 200 butterfly with impressive times of 48.86 and 1:46.67, respectively.
"We definitely were a little rusty today," said Cal head coach Teri McKeever. "There were however some really good individual performances from Dana, winning three races, to Erica, Lauren [Boyle], Madison and Emily. As a team, we're looking forward to this next month and a half to get back into that racing mode and sharpen up certain areas heading into the Pac-10 Championships."
The Wildcats started the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay as the foursome of Hailey DeGolia, Ann Chandler, Lara Jackson and Anna Turner posted a time of 1:39.73. Cal's quartet of Lauren Rogers, Alexandra Ellis, Hannah Wilson and Liv Jensen placed third with a time of 1:42.55.

Nathan Adrian was arguably Cal’s top swimmer today, winning three events (50, 100 and 200 free) and proving to be the difference in Cal’s 400 free relay with his leadoff time of 42.29.
