Bentley Too Much For UMass-Dartmouth

Markert, Ouellette Lead Bentley Men in 162-124 Win over UMass-Dartmouth 
With senior Nick Markert (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton HS) and sophomore Egen Ouellette (West Hartford, Conn./Conard HS) leading the way, Bentley University captured 14 of 16 events during a 162-124 victory over UMass-Dartmouth in men’s swimming at the Dana Center on Monday afternoon.

Ouellette was a triple-winner, posting victories in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:30.74), 100 free (49.91) and the 50 butterfly (25.25). He also helped the Falcons prevail in the 200 free relay, combining with Markert and sophomore Matt Cesaro (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) and Chris Horan (Hanover/Boston College HS) for a time of 1:33.53.

Markert, who helped Bentley open the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay (1:42.62), finished first in both breaststroke events, with times of 29.13 in the 50 and 1:04.34 in the 100.  In the relay, he teamed with senior James Cote (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip HS) and juniors Sam Laden (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) and Willie Connolly (Washington, Conn./Shepaug Valley HS).

Laden’s afternoon also included victories in the 50 free (23.11) and the 100 individual medley (58.65).

Freshman Dave Curran (Danbury, Conn./Danbury HS) was Bentley’s other double-winner, taking both the 50 and 100 backstroke, with times of 27.58 and 59.59, respectively.

Rounding out the list of Falcon winners were Connolly in the 200 free (1:53.82) and freshman Eric Stricker (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central HS) in the 500 free (5:10.60).

Bentley, 4-3, will host Babson Wednesday at 6:30 pm.      

Kaduboski a Triple-Winner as Bentley Women Swim Past UMass-Dartmouth
Sophomore Anne Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS) won three individual events and also participated on a winning relay as the Bentley University women’s swim team posted a 159-111 win over UMass-Dartmouth Monday afternoon at the Dana Center.

The Falcons won 15 of 16 events en route to improving to 6-3 on the season, and clinched the victory with three events still remaining.

Kaduboski, unbeaten in her last 35 individual dual races, posted victories in the 50 yard freestyle (25.95 seconds), the 100 backstroke (1:03.30) and the 100 individual medley (1:05.32). She also combined with senior Kristen Thuerk (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS), junior Erin Koslosky (Washington Depot, Conn./Shepaug Valley HS) and freshman Susie Boretti (Westford/Westford Academy) for a winning effort of 1:47.75 in the 200 free relay.

Thuerk and junior Carolyn Connolly (Palm Desert, Calif./Palm Desert HS) both won a pair of individual events for the Falcons. Thuerk touched first in the 100 butterfly (1:04.94) and the 500 freestyle (5:38.63), and Connolly captured both the 200 and 100 freestyle races, with times of 2:10.69 and 59.23, respectively.

Connolly was also part of Bentley’s meet-opening 200 medley relay team, which started the meet on a winning note with a time of 2:01.42. Partnering with her were freshman Molly Murphy (Horseheads, N.Y./Watkins Glen HS) and seniors Breda O’Connor (Dedham/Ursuline Academy) and Lynne Tutunjian (Shrewsbury/Worcester Academy).

Each of those three also won an individual event with O’Connor taking the 50 back (31.61), Murphy the 100 breast (1:14.00) and Tutunjian the 50 fly (29.20).

Bentley’s other first-place finishers were Boretti in the 50 breast (34.17), senior Marissa Cerami (Mahwah, N.J./Bergen County Academies) in the one-meter diving (340.73 for 11 dives) and sophomore Emily Travers (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter HS) in the three-meter diving (193.42).

Bentley will be back in action Wednesday night with a 6:30 meet against Babson College.
 
Swimmers Fall at Bentley
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's swimming team fell to powerful Bentley in a dual meet at the Dana Center Monday afternoon.

The Corsair women fell to the Falcons, 159-111, while the men lost to Bentley, 162-124.

For the women, freshman Kim Moore (Billerica, MA/Billerica HS) won the 1000 yard freestyle in 11:59.09. On the men's side, sophomore Craig Johnson (Acushnet, MA/New Bedford HS) was first in the 100 yard butterfly in 56.24 seconds.
"We swam a little tired today, and we were missing a few people, due to illness," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "We have been swimming double sessions every day. Now, we'll start to get ready for New Englands."

The Corsair women fell to 2-7, while the men dropped to 2-4. Bentley's women improved to 6-3, while the men improved to 4-3. The men will return to action when they host Regis Saturday, while the women will compete again in January 29th, when they host WPI.
