Swimming Drops Meet at R-MC
The Greensboro College women's swimming team (5-1) suffered its first setback of the season with a 121-55 defeat at Randolph Macon College. Senior Alex Cooke (High Point, NC/SW Guilford) earned first place finish in the 50 Freestyle (25:72), swimming her fastest time of the year.

Cooke also placed second in the 200 Butterfly (2:19.76). In that race she broke a five-year-old team record previously held by Sharon Boyd by more than three seconds.

Emma Phillips (Hurdle Mills, NC/Cresset Christian Academy) placed second in the 200 Breaststroke (2:36.14), but bested the team record, also held by Boyd from 2006, by four seconds. Phillips also swam her fastest time of the year in the 200 IM, and is now within a second of that team record.

Several other swimmers surpassed their own previous career bests, including Sophomore Lauren DeFina (Port Jefferson, NY/Port Jefferson) and Senior Lauren Smith (New Kent, Va./Washington Academy) in the 100 Freestyle, and Courtney Long (Hendersonville, NC/West Henderson) in the 200 IM.

Kellianne Mullins and Corrine Campbell both won two individual events for the Yellow Jackets.

R-MC improved to 7-2 with the win.

The Pride returns to action next Friday vs. Salem College. The meet, which has been moved to GC's Reynolds Pool, begins at 5 p.m.
