WSU Retains Top Spots in Division II Poll

Somers, WI , February 13th, 2009
For the third consecutive poll, Wayne State sits atop the  CollegeSwimming.com/ CSCAA Division II Dual-Meet Rankings.  The rankings reflect the final dual meet rankings prior to February's conference championships.

The Warrior men confirmed their place atop the polls with a convincing January 9th victory over second-ranked Grand Valley State.  On the women's side, Wayne State retained the top spot despite a one-point loss to the Lakers on the strength of their lineup judged against a standardized scoring system.  The Division II powers will be tested again at this weekend's GLIAC Championships.

Clarion University in Pennsylvania lept into the rankings for the first time this season.  The Golden Eagle men and women head into next week's PSAC Championships ranked fourth and third respectively.

Following Wayne State and Clarion, Grand Valley State, Delta State, and Incarnate Word make up the women's top five.  St. Cloud State, Gannon, Minnesota State-Moorhead, Minnesota State-Mankato and Henderson State round out the top ten.

For the men, Grand Valley, despite the loss to Wayne State, retains the number two spot, followed by Delta State, Clarion, and Minnesota State-Mankato.  Rounding out the top ten are Colorado School of Mines, Henderson State, St. Cloud State, Incarnate Word and Missouri Science & Technology.

All of Division II will put its best foot forward in the coming weeks as they use their respective conference championships to qualify for the March 11-14 NCAA Championships in Houston.

The CSCAA/ CollegeSwimming.com rankings are based on each team's best dual meet lineup as judged and submitted by participating teams. Rankings are announced four times throughout the season - November (Pre-Invite), December (Post-Invite), February (Pre-Conference), and March (Post-Conference).
