.: Stanford All-American Passes Away

Palo Alto, CA , September 17th, 2008

The Stanford Athletics family mourns the passing of former women's swimmer Jennifer Pokluda Peterson, who died on August 27th following a heroic battle with brain cancer. She was 42.

Then Jennifer Pokluda, she was a 12-time All-American for Stanford from the 1984-85 through 1987-88 seasons. One of the nation's best backstroke swimmers, she was a part of four straight Cardinal teams that finished at least third at the NCAA Championships. Her last two Stanford teams won the first two Pacific-10 Conference championships ever awarded in women's swimming. She also swam the first leg of Stanford's 200 Medley Relay team that won the 1986 NCAA title.
