Bradford, PA , October 9th, 2008

Head swim coach Ed Bahan has announced Pamela Digel is the new assistant swim coach at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Digel was a two-time NCAA Division III All-American at Allegheny College and holds several records in the school’s freestyle events.

She has been the head coach at Bradford High for the past 22 years and led the BAHS swim teams to 20 District 9 championships. During her tenure, the Bradford High swim team earned 30 PIAA State Championship medals, including seven individual gold medals and a team silver for the girls’ squad in 2004. Digel has also launched over 50 athletes to successful collegiate swim careers.

Coach Digel joins the Pitt-Bradford swim program as the Panthers enter their third season of NCAA Division III competition. The program has grown from nine swimmers the first year to 30 athletes for the upcoming 2008-09 campaign.

“It is wonderful to expand the coaching staff with coach Digel,” Bahan said. “It’s great to work with someone with as much experience and success as she brings to our program.”
