While the economy of the auto state may be down, its swimming fortunes are up. The Wayne State University men and Grand Valley State University women lead the November 25 CSCAA/CollegeSwimming.com Dual Meet Rankings. Wayne State earned the top spot after sweeping three top-fifteen opponents (#6 Ashland, #12 Indianapolis #15 Truman State) at the start of the month. The Warriors are 6-2 on the season with their only two setbacks coming from Division I opponents.
Grand Valley State is also perfect against Division II opponents, with wins over #14 Ashland University, #21 Lewis University, and Hillsdale College. The Lakers’ sole loss came at the hands of Michigan State.
The two programs rankings are reversed when it comes to second-place with Wayne State occupying second on the women’s side and GVSU on the men’s. The two programs will battle head-to-head on January 9, 2009.
After the top two, it’s a host of Minnesota schools. Saint Cloud State and Minnesota State-Mankato occupy the third and fourth slots in both polls with Henderson State’s men and Minnesota State-Moorhead’s women rounding out the top five.
The CollegeSwimming.com rankings are based on each team's best dual meet lineup as judged and submitted by participating teams. Rankings are announced four times throughout the season – November (Pre-Invite), December (Post-Invite), February (Pre-Conference), and March (Post-Conference.
