Cabrini Splits With Lebanon

The Cabrini men and women’s swimming teams collected a combined 17 gold medals Saturday in a dual-meet at Lebanon Valley College. The Cavalier women topped the Dutchwomen, 109-94. The Cabrini men suffered a 124-78 setback.

 

Junior Andrea Carabello (Shillington, Pa./Gov. Mifflin), sophomore Kate Manning (Springfield, Pa./Springfield), freshman MacKenzie Stewart (Drexel Hill, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) and freshman Lauren Sliva (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forrest Hills Central) led the women’s charge, each winning two gold medals, including as a team in the 200m medley relay. The Cavaliers posted a time of 2:14.57.

 

Carabello finished first in the 200m freestyle, clocking in at 2:22.88. Manning won gold in the 400m freestyle with a time of 5:09.14.

 

Stewart posted a first-place performance in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:20.68. Sliva finished ahead of the field in the 50m freestyle, recording a time of 29:59.

 

Junior Anne Konicki (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Hubert's) (11:18.67) and sophomore Emily Yurick (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) (2:45.23) finished first in the 800m freestyle and 200m individual medley, respectively.

 

On the men’s side, sophomore Matt McGuriman (Hatfield, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) won three gold medals. He joined classmates Bill Boylan (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest), Josh Pace (Clifton Heights, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) and Matt Piontkowski (Waterford, N.J./Paul VI) in a first-place (2:02.73) performance in the 200m medley relay.

 

McGuriman also captured gold in the 50m freestyle (25:38) and 100m freestyle (57.45).

 

Boylan finished first in the 100m breaststroke, posting a time of 1:14.94.

 

The Cabrini men and women’s swimming teams resume action Thursday, November 20 in day one of the three-day Crimson Invitational hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
