Bentley Sweeps Gordon College

With junior Sam Laden (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) winning three events and participating on a victorious relay, the Bentley University men’s swimming team cruised to a 157-78 win over host Gordon College Wednesday night.

Laden opened the meet by teaming with classmate Willie Connolly (Washington, Conn./Shepaug Valley HS) and seniors James Cote (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip HS) and Nick Markert (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton HS) for a winning time of 1:43.00 in the 200 yard medley relay.

Later on, Laden posted victories in the 50 breaststroke (29.11 seconds), the 100 free (50.51) and the 100 individual medley (57.18).

Each of his partners in the relay also posted a win:  Connolly in the 50 backstroke (25.59), Cote in the 100 butterfly (57.85) and Markert in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.03).

Bentley’s other individual winners in the meet were sophomores Chris Horan (Hanover/Boston College HS) and Egen Ouellette (West Hartford, Conn./Conard HS), and freshmen Patrick Ryan (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury HS) and Erik Strickler (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central HS). Horan outswam the field in the 1000 free (11:35.21), Ouellette touched first in the 200 free (1:53.07), Ryan took the 100 back (1:01.05) and Strickler’s 5:17.41 in the 500 free was the fastest.

On the women's event, Sophomore Anne Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS) touched first in three different events, helping the Bentley University women’s swimming team to a 164-81 victory over Gordon College Wednesday night.

Kaduboski finished first in the 200 yard freestyle (2:03.64), the 50 free (26.34 seconds) and the 100 backstroke (1:03.52), accounting for three of her team’s ten individual wins.

Senior Kristen Thuerk (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) recorded firsts in a pair of events, with times of 1:04.35 in the 100 butterfly and 1:07.36 in the 100 individual medley.

Bentley’s other winners in the meet were junior Erin Koskosky (Washington Depot, Conn./ Shepaug Valley HS) in the 1000 free (12:32.20), sophomore Alex Connors (Swampscott/Swampscott HS) in the 50 back (32.65), freshman Molly Murphy (Horseheads, N.Y./Watkins Glen HS) in the 50 breaststroke (34.26), freshman Susie Boretti (Westford/Westford Academy) in the 100 breast (1:14.52) and junior Carolyn Connolly (Palm Desert, Calif./Palm Desert HS) in the 500 free (5:54.98).

Koslosky and Murphy were also part of the Falcons’ winning 200 medley relay team, which had a time of 2:06.67.

Bentley, 1-1, will return to action Saturday with a 12 noon meet at Bryant University.
