Points-wise, Georgia graduates a huge class. Gil Stovall, Sebastien Rouault and Chris Colwill were all NCAA Champions. Nobody here stands out as a potential champ, but the Bulldogs took steps that will make their relays much better.
“We are very excited about both of our recruiting class,” Jack Bauerle announced, speaking from the standard recruiting class script. “They’re not only talented young swimmers, but they’re also exceptional people. They are exactly the type of young men and women we want representing the University of Georgia. We feel like they’ll all make great academic and athletic contributions to our program.”
Three of the five and the two best signees are from in state. Michael Arnold is ranked twenty-fifth overall and the consummate sprinter. Peter Benner, Todd McGraw and Stephen Swan round out a class that’s freestyle and butterfly heavy. Man-for-man they won’t make up for Stovall or Rouault, but collectively Georgia shouldn’t lose much on the SEC side of things.
