Cal Baptist Repeats as NAIA Champions

San Antonio, TX , March 1st, 2008           
The celebration began just before the final event, the 400 free relay, got underway as both California Baptist teams received word that they had enough cushion to claim the fourth straight national title on the women’s side and the third consecutive on the men’s side.

The women finished with 729 total points while the men topped it off at 573.

Both Simon Fraser and SCAD teams finished second and third with SFU’s women scoring 585 while the men finished at 503. SACD’s women totaled 540 points while the men scored 465.5.

The Lancer women had eight top-four finishes with a pair of national champions. Nicole Shipman and Katelyn Butler each will bring home a national title as Shipman notched a 2:04.67 in the 200 back while Katelyn Butler just missed a school record by one-tenth of a second in the 100 free (51.83).

On the final day of competition Simon Fraser captured four individual titles while Cal Baptist and Savannah College of Art and Design (Ga.) won a title each.

The Clan's Hans Richard captured the 1650 freestyle while Andrew Poznikoff won 100 freestyle and Niels Muntzenburger took home 200 butterfly title.  All three teamed up with David Geary to win 400 freestyle relay.

CBU's Vincent Andrade won the 200 Backstroke while SCAD's Thomas Gibson captured the 200 breaststroke with record breaking time of 2:00.76.

Simon Fraser women capture three individual titles while CBU won two and Fresno Pacific took one.

Courtney Mulhern and Vicky Sui of Simon Fraser won their individual events in 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly respectively and then team up with Addie Kolybaba and Jessica Verheyden to capture 400 freestyle relay.

CBU's Nicole Shipman took home the 200 backstroke title while Katelyn Butler won the 100 freestyle title.

Fresno Pacific's Brooke Turner captured the 1650 freestyle title.
