Towson University Women Defeat Loyola College 186-105

Sophomore Emilie Hoeper (Mt. Notre Dame H.S./Hamilton, Ohio) won a pair of individual events and was a member of the victorious 200-yard medley relay team as Towson University (11-1) extended its win streak to eight straight dual meets with a 186-105 non-conference victory over Loyola College in the Tigers’ regular season finale at Burdick Pool on Saturday afternoon.


With their 11-1 record, the Tigers complete the regular season with their best dual meet record since the 1999-2000 season when they finished with a 9-1 mark. The 11 wins are also the most in a dual meet season for the Tigers since 1979-80 when they finished with a 12-5 record.


Hoeper finished in first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.46 seconds and also earned a first place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.16. She also swam the lead leg in the Tigers’ victorious 200-yard medley relay team, which turned in a mark of 1:49.95.
Sophomore Robin Glaser (Easton H.S./Easton, Pa.) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.73 while sophomore Christina Bowman (St. John’s College H.S./Silver Spring, Md.) took first place in the 500-yard freestyle by completing the event in 5:07.24.
Freshman Meredith Budner (Walter Johnson H.S./Rockville, Md.) earned a first place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:19.54 while junior Danielle Kelly (Harford Tech H.S./Joppa, Md.) turned in a time of 2:08.75 to finish first in the 200-yard backstroke. Sophomore Ivy Wimberley (Red Bank Catholic H.S./Farmingdale, N.J.) earned first place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.02) while sophomore Stephanie Guttenplan (Centennial H.S./Roswell, Ga.) also finished in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.42).
Competing in her final home meet, senior Caroline Cox (Rising Sun H.S./Rising Sun, Md.) finished first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.99 seconds while sophomore Jordan Crosby (Middletown H.S. South/Monmouth, N.J.) and junior Katie Nguyen (South River H.S./Edgewater, Md.) won the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley events, respectively.
Sophomore Alexandra Coletta (Ocean City H.S./Marmora, N.J.) led the Greyhounds by finishing first in the one-meter diving event with a score of 192.05 points. She also took second place in the three-meter diving event with 202.15 points.
The Tigers now lead the all-time series by a 23-6-1 margin.
