It was senior day for the Boise State swimming & diving
team and despite setting several school records in their final dual meet
of the season, the Broncos fell to the University of Idaho,
131.50-162.50, Saturday.
“This was a great meet for us,” said head coach Kristin Hill. “We would
have loved to win, but there were a lot of close races that didn’t go
our way and we’ll be better next time. We are only in the second year
of our program and to be within striking distance in most races is
impressive for our team.”
The event kicked off with the one-meter, which showcased the talents of
senior Jennifer Dorling, who notched a season-best and zone qualifying
score of 309.85 to finish first in the event. Also tallying a zone
qualifying score was freshman Megan Morton as she recorded a career-best
284.70. Not to be outdone was Alyssa Daly, who also notched a
career-best 252.50 in the event to finish third.
The 200 medley relay kicked off the swimming portion of the meet, which
showcased the talents of Densie Green, Tara Hahto, Allison Hall and
Sammy Sanchez-O’Dell who recorded a school record time of 1:49.14, but
were outreached by the Vandals to earn second place in the event.

she finished first after clocking a time of 17:38.07, finishing 17
seconds ahead of her second place competitor.

good enough for second in the Boise State record books, while teammate
Johanna Wubbena finished third with a career-best time 1:58.07.
The 100 backstroke followed with a fourth place finish by Green, who
recorded a time of 1:00.34, which is good enough for second in the
Bronco record books.

time of 1:07.12 in the event to finish first.

of her competition.
The sprint event of the 50 free featured the talent of Sammy
Sanchez-O’Dell, who led the Broncos with a time of 25.02 to finish.
Breaking up the swimming competition was the three-meter diving, which
was highlighted by Dorling who tallied yet another zone qualifying score
of 281.20 for first place. Morton followed with a second place finish
with a score of 261.20, while Daly notched 244.15 points to place third
in the event.
Following the break was the 100 free, which showed the talents of Kim
Nelson, who set a school record with a time of 53.87 and took second in
the event.
In the 200 back, Green led the Broncos with a fourth place finish after
clocking a career-best time of 2:10.84. Her time also set a school
record in the event, beating her previous time by one second.
It was Hahto who led Boise State in the 200 breast, as she clocked a
2:25.72 in the event to finish second.
Much like earlier in the day, the Broncos dominated in the distance
event of the 500 free as Rachael Meisner took second with a time of
5:12.77, while LoFland finished third after clocking a time of 5:14.57.
Sanchez-O’Dell recorded a time of 1:00.08 in the 200 fly, leading the
Broncos with a third place finish, just outreaching teammate Hall who
finished fourth with a time of 1:00.30.
During the second break of the meet, members of the Boise State football
team performed a number of dives in a competition off the gridiron. In a
battle between the O-line and D-line, while scores were unofficially
kept, the D-line dominated the O- line as it was defensive tackle Joe
“The Natural” Bozikovich winning both the crowd and judges over on
his second dive entitled, ‘Happy Birthday Sushi’.
Entering the final events of the competition, Hahto took first in the
400 individual medley after clocking a time of 4:38.63 in the event.

are excited to reach all of the goals we have set for the season at the
WAC Conference Championships in four weeks.”

Championship, Feb.20-23, located in San Antonio, Texas.
