Drury University's defending national champion men's and women's swimming and diving squads swept a dual meet with D-II rival Truman State on Saturday, winning the women's meet 129-107 and taking the men's competition by a 154-67 count at the Breech Pool.
The women's meet was a matchup of the squads that have combined to claim the past 11 NCAA-II national championships, with Drury having ended Truman's six-year stranglehold on the big trophy last March in Buffalo, N.Y.
This time, Drury used great balance to beat the Bulldogs. Victories from the Panthers came from Eunate Garro (50 Free and 100 Free), Megan Chambers (400 IM), Shealyn Holland (1-meter diving), Lauren Bader (3-meter diving), Janelle Slattery (200 Back) and Xaio Juan You (200 Breast). Drury also took victory in the 400 Medley Relay.
On the men's side, the Panthers rolled to the victory behind wins from Kyrillo Fesenko in the 400 IM and 200 Breast, first-place points from Andrew Coup in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving and individual triumphs from Brian Knuckles (1650 Free), Yiwen Huang (200 Free), Kyle Kearbey (200 Fly), Alexander Protsenko (200 Back) and Mitch Snyder (500 Free), as well as the 400 Freestyle and 400 Medley relays.
Both Drury squads are idle until they host the University of Missouri on Feb. 8 at Breech.
