Limestone Men's Swimming Defeats Savannah College of Art and Design 145-112, Lady Saints Fall to SCAD 171-89

The Limestone College men’s swim team defeated the Savannah College of Art & Design 145-112 on Saturday afternoon at the Timken Aquatic Center. The Saints’ record improves to 4-1 overall. The Limestone women’s team lost to SCAD 171-89. The Lady Saints’ record stands at 3-3.

 

The Saint men got a win in the 200 medley relay as Linvern Zheng (Port Dixon, Malaysia), Matt Parsonage (Durban, South Africa), Zeljko Karaman (Split, Croatia), and Goran Majlat (Split, Croatia) posted a time of 1:35.18. Karaman finished second in the 200 freestyle with his time of 2:17.60.  Anders Melin (Karlstad, Sweden) swam the 100 backstroke in 54.38 for second place. Parsonage won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.21 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:12.88. Chad McKenzie (Durban, South Africa) won the 200 butterfly (1:57.28) and 200 individual medley  (1:58.35). Chris Harrigan (Greenville, S.C.) took second in the 50 free with his time of 22.18. Jordens and Harrigan were the top two finishers in the 100 free, with times of 47.23 and 49.18, respectively. Zheng was first in the 200 back (1:56.17), and McKenzie finished second (1:57.70). Zheng was second in the 100 butterfly after posting 52.93. Majlat, Harrigan, Jordens, and Melin finished the 200 free relay in 1:26.33 for the victory.

 

Marija Grubic (Split, Croatia) took first for the Lady Saints in the 100 back with a time of 1:01.52, and went on to win the 200 back in 5:12.96. Carmen Adams (Conway, S.C.) won the 200 breaststroke with 2:34.69, and was second in the 100 breaststroke after posting 1:11.74. Ines Speranda (Split, Croatia) finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:19.55). Jessi Sullivan (Lancaster, S.C.) placed second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.22.

 

The SCAD women started the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1.55.00 through the efforts of Cassie Dixon (Las Cruces, N.M.), Liz Roberts (Alexandria, Va.), Carly Keith (Montclair, Va.), and Victoria Aboud (Toronto, Ontario, Canada.) Jill Jeffries (Clarkson Valley, Mo.) and Camile Poche (LaPlace, La.) took first and second in the 1000 freestyle, with times of 11.11.74 and 11.31.48, respectively. Stephanie McNicol (Parker, Colo./1:58.04) and Aboud (2:03.51) took the top two spots in the 200 freestyle. Liz Roberts won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.91. Rachel Fritts (Southern Pines, N.C.) won the 200 butterfly (2:11.03). Keith also picked up a win in the 50 freestyle (26.28), and Elizabeth Harr (Waterville, Ohio) was second (26.60). Dixon got another victory in the 100 free (55.07), and Megan Lawless (Holland, Mich.) was right behind with a time of 55.78. Elizabeth Harr (Waterville, Ohio) finished the 100 butterfly in 1:01.08 for the victory. Fritts had a time of 2:16.20 to win the 200 individual medley. Lawless, Aboud, Harr, and Dixon combined for a time of 1:43.02 to win the 200 free relay.

 

For the SCAD men, Geoffrey Byers (Metairie, La.) and Ian Hutcheson took the top two spots in the 1000 freestyle, with respective times of 10:26.92 and 10:44.83. Allan Cox (Raleigh, N.C.) won the 200 free with a time of 1:46.32. Vitali Pushkar-Verbitsky (Nesher, Israel) won the 100 backstroke in 54.05 and took first in the 100 butterfly (50.88). Nat Emmett (Lawrenceville, Ga.) finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.39). Danny Recordon (Portland, Ore.) swam the 50 freestyle in 21.72 to get the victory.
