Iowa Tops Western Illinois

IOWA CITY, IA - The University of Iowa swimming and diving teams played host to the Western Illinois University today in Iowa City. Nathan Keeling and Andrej Lenert, the only two Hawkeye seniors, were honored on senior night. The Hawkeye men improved their record against to 3-3 (1-3 Big Ten) with a 159-63 victory. The women's dual record now stands at 3-5 (1-2 Big Ten) after their win by a final score of 144-71.
The Hawkeye men didn't surrender a victory until the final race of the evening and were led by freshman Richard Salhus with two individual victories in the 50 (21.75) and 100 freestyle (48.02), as well as being a member of the winning 400 medley relay team (3:31.39). The women guided by freshman Katarina Tour who took home titles in the 100 IM (1:00.08) and the 50 breaststroke (30.15).
The Hawkeyes will return to action tomorrow morning in a women's only meet against Illinois in Iowa City at 11 a.m. The men's next competition will be January 26 when they head to Columbia, MO to take on the Missouri Tigers.
