The UB women's swimming team returned to dual meet action on Friday, January 18 at Western Connecticut State University, and the Purple Knights posted a 109-93 victory.

Roxana Purcelea (Constanta, Romania) had two first-place finishes for Bridgeport with victories in the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.06) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:17.06).

Viktoriya Proskurina (Omsk, Russia) was also a two-time winner for the Purple Knights touching first in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:34.06) and 100-yard freestyle (1:00.18).

UB's other individual winners were Viki Molnar (Nagyvenyim, Hungary) in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.52), Raluca Duma (Cluj Napoca, Romania) in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.55), Marina Konta (Split, Croatia) in the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.36), Anna Zahova (Velingrad, Bulgaria) in the 50-yard freestyle, and Aleksandra Byczynska (Warsaw, Poland) in the 50-yard butterfly (28.14).

Swimming as an exhibition, junior Brittany Kartchner (Stafford, VA) had the "Race of the Day" with her exciting win in the 500-yard Freestyle.

The University of Bridgeport?s dual-meet record now stands at 5-3 on the season, while West Conn. falls to 2-4.
