Men's Swimmer of the Week

Kyle Bubolz, Northwestern

Sr., Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North

Bubolz competed in the Classic at SMU which featured four ranked collegiate teams, a squad of post-graduate Texas swimmers and three U.S. Olympic gold medalists.  He swam in two individual races bringing home first in the 100 butterfly and second in the 100 freestyle.  His time of 46.80 in the 100 fly met the NCAA `A' qualifying standard and also ranks fourth all-time among Big Ten swimmers.  Bubolz picks up his second career weekly laurel.

Men's Diver of the Week

Wes Wieser, Ohio State

Jr., Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway West

Wieser swept the one-meter heights last weekend to aid the Buckeyes in wins over Wright State, 141-87, and Kentucky, 181-117.  His scores from the one-meter totaled 379.73 and 341.63.  The junior also competed in the three-meter dive competitions placing second on Friday (381.53) and finishing fourth on Saturday (386.93).  All of Wieser's dives qualified him for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in March.  The Missouri native garners his second career Diver of the Week accolade.

Women's Swimmer of the Week

Kate Zubkova, Indiana

So., Kharkov, Ukraine/Technology Lyceum 9

In just her first meet as a Hoosier, sophomore transfer Zubkova took home six first-place finishes to guide IU to a victory.  Zubkova's best performance came in the 100-yard backstroke, recording an NCAA `A' time of 54.18.  She also met the NCAA `B' time in the 200 backstroke clocking in at 1:58.03.  Both of her backstroke swims set new pool records.  In relay action, the newcomer swam on a record-breaking team, posting 3:42.75 in the 400 medley relay.  The Ukraine native also swam on the winning 200 medley relay squad, recording a NCAA `B' time of 1:42.18.  Other firsts on the day included the 100 butterfly (55.64) and 200 freestyle relay (1:34.30).  Zubkova garners her inaugural weekly accolade.

Women's Diver of the Week

Bianca Alvarez, Ohio State

Fr., Miami, Fla./Miami Sunset

Alvarez set a new school and McCorkle Aquatic Center record with her performance off the three-meter board scoring 396.15 points in a win over Wright State, 150-87.  In the same meet, Alvarez placed second from the one-meter height totaling 282.45 points.  The freshman bettered this dive a day later in a dual meet against Kentucky finishing second and posting a score of 310.28.  Her three-meter performance, however, yielded a first-place showing with a score of 372.00.  The Buckeyes downed the Wildcats 179-119.  The Miami native earns her first career weekly award.
