Westminster College Sweeps Baldwin-Wallace

The Westminster College men's and women's swimming teams won a non-conference dual meet at Baldwin-Wallace on Saturday. The Titan men improved their record to 6-1 on the season with a 123-99 win, while the Titan women improved to 5-3 with a 114-94 victory.

The Titan women won seven events and finished with top time as an exhibition in an eighth event, while the Titan men won nine events and notched an additional top time in an exhibition.

Multiple winners for Westminster included junior Conor Simpson (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) capturing the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.60) and the 500 free (5:00.44), while on the women's side junior Megan Mier (Copley, Ohio/Revere) won the 50 free (26.74) and the 200 backstroke (2:11.81).

Westminster swimmers winning both individual and relay races during the meet included junior Chris Lehberger (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) taking the 400 IM (4:22.06) as well as contributing on the winning 200 medley relay team.

The Titan women also won the 200 medley relay, which included sophomore Maile Kirkpatrick (Meadville, Pa./Meadville), senior Becky Giles (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop), freshman Courtney Herdt (Beaver Falls, Pa./Beaver Falls) and sophomore Emily Dressler (Hummelstown, Pa./Mount Calvary Christian). Kirkpatrick also won the 200 free (2:06.75), while Giles took the 400 IM (4:48.18) and Dressler touched first in the 500 free (5:19.10).

Westminster returns to action when the teams host Grove City at the Westminster Natatorium on Jan. 22 for a 6 p.m. start.
