Meet results

The Vermont women's swimming and diving team put together an all-around strong performance on Wednesday night to defeat Dartmouth College, 158-142, at Forbush Natatorium. The Catamounts improve to 6-5 on the season and extend their unbeaten streak to four meets while Dartmouth falls to 1-5 on the year.

"At this time of year, coming off the semester break, it can be pretty unpredictable as to how teams perform. I am absolutely thrilled with how the ladies came out tonight to fight for the win. This is a stepping stone victory for the program," said Vermont head coach Gerry Cournoyer.

Vermont opened the meet winning the first four races and took first place in 10 of 16 events.

UVM's 200 medley relay team of Kate Weaver (South Burlington, Vt.), Ashley Gillespie (Ithaca, N.Y.), Nichole Underhill (South Burlington, Vt.) and Rachel Kent (Mystic, Conn.) got things rolling for the Catamounts with a winning time of 1:51.91.

Sophomore Molly MacMillan (Doylestown, Pa.) set a new pool record with a time of 10:26.03, on her way to winning the 1000 free. Teammate Lauren Honorath (Monroe, Conn.) placed second in the event with a time of 10:40.34.

Sophomore Colleen Clark (Unionville, Conn.) won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.99 and Weaver earned first place in the 100 backstroke (58.66). Clark and Weaver also picked up wins in the 100 freestyle and 200 backstroke, respectively.

Gillespie won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:31.20 and MacMillian picked up her second win of the night in the 500 freestyle (5:09.78).

The biggest win of the meet came during the diving event with freshman Renee Gliddon (Acton, Mass.) picking up the victory. Gliddon totaled 240.08 points to win the event, marking the first time in at least eight years the Catamounts have defeated the Big Green in diving.

Vermont closed out the meet winning the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Clark, MacMillan, Eryka Karz (Mt. Prospect, Ill.) and Kent posted a time of 3:38.54.

Vermont returns to action on Sunday (Jan. 13) at Holy Cross. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00pm. UVM's next home meet is Friday (Jan. 18) versus Siena at 4:00pm at the Forbush Natatorium.
