Stanford defeated California, 132.5 to 110.5 in men's swimming Saturday afternoon at the AveryAquaticCenter. The Cardinal will now look to use the win over their rival to springboard into postseason.

Stanford took the lead after the first race and never trailed when they won the 400 yard medley relay. The team of Eugene Godsoe, Paul Kornfeld, Austin Staab, and Jason Dunford swam a time of 3:11.94 to just miss the `A' standard, but set a season best for the Cardinal.

On senior day, Noa Sakamoto represented the Stanford seniors well by winning the 1000 freestyle. He swam a time of 9:19.11 to come from behind to win the race.

Another event winner for Stanford was Andrew Trepp in the 200 freestyle. His winning time of 1:37.40 was a season best, lowering his `B' standard from earlier in the season.

The other event winners for Stanford were Nate Cass in the 200 IM with a time of 1:49.44, David Mosko in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:48.90, and Godsoe in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:44.35.

Cal was led by diver, Sam Helvie who captured both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. Helvie finished with 313.05 points for the 1-meter and 356.70 points for the 3-meter.
