North Carolina¹s men¹s and women¹s swimming and diving teams staged successful senior days for 14 departing Tar Heels by sweeping Johns Hopkins and Emory Saturday afternoon at Koury Natatorium. The UNC men beat Hopkins 158-130 and topped Emory 176-117. The Tar Heel women beat Emory 165-82 and prevailed over Johns Hopkins 177-105.
Emory and Hopkins split their meets with the Hopkins men winning 144-136 and the Emory women triumphing 175-93.
Saturday marked the final home meet for 14 UNC swimmers and divers. The 14 seniors were honored in pre-meet ceremonies. The seniors on the women¹s team are Laura Filip, Taylor McFarlane, Erika Matheis, Lindsey Marck, Kelsey Morrissy and Kelly Woodruff. The eight Tar Heel senior men are Ryan Funderburk, Robby Swendiman, Zach Swartz, Keith Laabs, Mark Mohr, Philip Owen, Brandon Suddreth and John Sands.
The Tar Heel men finished the dual meet season with a record of 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the ACC. The 2007-08 campaign marks the 69th successive season in which the UNC men¹s team has finished with at least a .500 record in dual-meet action. That includes 64 winning records and five seasons with a 500 ledger.
