University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Sweeps Valparaiso

Taking to the water for the final time before finals and the holiday break, Valparaiso dropped a 176-83 decision to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Thursday evening at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.

            David Sivak (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) earned the first individual victory of the night for the Brown and Gold, posting a time of 1:47.60 in the 200 freestyle, winning the event by nearly 2.5 seconds.  The sophomore also finished second in the 200 individual medley touching the wall in 2:01.15, just .16 seconds behind Green Bay’s winner.

            Victor Sikorski (Valparaiso, Ind./Wheeler H.S.) also earned an event win in the 100 free, out-touching the Phoenix by just .05 seconds with a mark of 48.66 seconds.

            Valpo also finished the night in victorious fashion with a win in the 200 freestyle relay.  Sikorski, Austin Hunter (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent H.S.), Trevor Trimpe (Connersville, Ind./Connersville H.S.), and Adam Jajtner (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington H.S.) finished the race with a time of 1:30.86 for a half-second win.

            Trimpe also finished runner-up in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 29.67 seconds for the Brown and Gold.  Sikorski also earned an individual second place finish on the night, finishing just .25 seconds off of the pace in the 50 free with a time of 21.38 seconds.

            Valparaiso (0-6) will wrap up its three-meet homestand on January 24 when the Crusaders entertain UIC after taking time off for the holidays.  The first event against the Flames will begin at 1 p.m. at the ARC pool.

Valparaiso continued its homestand on Thursday evening, but was unable to come up victorious, dropping a 178-93 meet to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.

            Amy Andracki (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect H.S.) the team’s first win of the night in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 31.05 seconds in the 50 breaststroke.  Andracki also finished second in the 100 breast for the Brown and Gold, touching the wall in 1:08.05, her best mark of the season in the event.

            Jaclyn Krause (Rochester, Mich./Notre Dame Prep H.S.) placed second of the Crusaders in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.02 seconds.  Rachel Majercik (Schaumburg, Ill./Conant H.S.) had the day’s best time in the event at 24.24 seconds as an exhibition swimmer.

            Majercik was credited with the win in the 100 free though, finishing in a time of 54.49 seconds.  She also earned a pair of second place finishes In the 50 butterfly she had a time of 26.69 seconds, just out-touching the Phoenix’s third place finisher, while turning in a time of 27.79 seconds in the 50 butterfly to also finish runner-up.

            Shaunna Dangremond (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino H.S.) earned a runner-up finish on the evening as well, placing second in the 100 backstroke.  The sophomore finished with a time of 1:03.97.

            Valparaiso (1-6) will take six weeks off for finals and the holidays before concluding the homestand on January 24 when the Crusaders entertain UIC.  The first event against the Flames will begin at 1 p.m. at the ARC pool.
