Terre Haute, IN , August 20th, 2008
Michael Caruso has resigned as head swimming and diving coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology after six seasons, effective August 29.
Caruso coached national champion Matt Smith in 2003 and sent three different Rose-Hulman swimmers to the NCAA Division III National Championships during his tenure.
Caruso, who has accepted a position of Assistant Aquatics Director and Head Club Coach in his native Massachusetts, was named the 2008 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Coach of the Year after leading the team to a third-place effort.
"I would like to thank all the current, and former swimmers and divers for all there hard work and wish them the best on there future endeavors. I would also like to thank the entire Rose-Hulman community for their support and efforts with our program. I have been very honored and privileged to serve Rose-Hulman for the past six years and I will always have a special place in my heart for the school and its wonderful people,” said Caruso.
In his six seasons, the Engineers compiled 13 national provisional qualifications, 27 school records and a total of 32 all-conference award winning swimmers and divers.
