.: University of New Orleans Swimming Adds Rogers as Volunteer Assistant
New Orleans, LA , October 25th, 2007
University of New Orleans head swimming coach Randy Horner announced the addition of Rich Rogers as a volunteer women’s swim assistant on Thursday.
Rogers, a veteran in club coaching with over 20 years of experience has a long list of accomplishments. He has served as a coach for the 2006 USA Swimming 18 and under National Club Champions from Tampa Bay Aquatics.
Rogers is the founder of Tampa Bay Aquatics and most recently joined the staff of Nu Wave Swim Club.
“Adding Rich will make a huge difference with our program,” said Horner. “He brings a wealth of experience that he will lend to our swimmers as we continue to improve our program here at UNO.”
Over the years, Rogers has coached numerous state, regional and junior national champions with a junior national champion in every stroke. He has seen his athletes break dozens of NCSA and USA Swimming records and obtain NCAA All-American status. Several of his athletes have gone on to compete in the US Olympic Trials.
Rogers is a board member for Super Sports Systems, Inc and is a 3S Certified "Master" Coach. In 2006, he was the recipient of the 2006 American Swim Coaches Association “Award of Excellence”.
"I am excited about the opportunity to work with Coach Horner and his swimmers,” said Rogers. “He has the vision, drive and passion to build a perennial power here at UNO. I look forward to helping him make that goal a reality."
The Privateers will next be in the pool this weekend at the Phill Hansel Duals at the University of Houston competing against UH, Brigham Young, Rice and Florida International.
