The conference office announced Big 12 Swimmers and Divers of the Week for meets from Oct. 12-21. Martin Cernansky (Missouri) was awarded Swimmer of the Week for men while fellow teammate, Dante Jones was awarded Diver of the Week. On the women's side, Triin Aljand (Texas A&M) was named Swimmer of the Week and Kendra Melnychuk (Missouri) received the Diver of the Week accolade. The student-athletes were chosen by vote of the league's head swimming and diving coaches.

Sophomore Martin Cernansky has collected three individual wins on this young season. He captured the win in the 200 breast stroke over Indiana with a time of 2:01.89 and followed up that performance with a 56.72 first place finish in the 100 breast at the Show Me Showdown. Cernansky then claimed the 200 individual medley over Texas A&M with a time of 1:54.32. This is the first weekly award for Cernansky.
Men's Diver of the WeekDante Jones, Missouri, Fr., Columbia, Mo.
Freshman Dante Jones captured the 1-meter diving competition in his Tiger debut with a score of 312.45 over Big Ten power Indiana. Jones then qualified for NCAA Zones at the Show Me Showdown with a 244.90 showing on the 3-meter dive.
Women's Swimmer of the WeekTriin Aljand, Texas A&M, Jr., Tallinn, Estonia
Junior Triin Aljand led the Aggie women to the Big 12 Relays title with first place finishes in the 4x25 medley relay, 3x100 fly relay, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, 3x50 back relay and the 4x25 free relay. Her 55.08 split in the 3x100 fly relay was an NCAA consideration time. The Tallin, Estonia native followed up that performance with two individual wins at Iowa State in the 50 free and 100 butterfly. The weekly accolade is the second of Aljand's career.
Women's Diver of the WeekKendra Melnychuk, Missouri, Jr., Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Junior Kendra Melnychuk has earned four individual wins on the season so far. She captured the 3-meter dive against Indiana with a final score of 307.13 and qualified for NCAA Zones at the Show Me Showdown with victories on the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Melnychuk then defeated defending Big 12 Champion, Texas A&M, with wins on both the 1-meter (279.35) and 3-meter boards (278.10). This is the third career weekly award for Melnychuk.
