.: Denver Splits With Pacific

Denver, CO , November 9th, 2007

The University of Denver swimming and diving teams split a dual
meet at Pacific Fridayt afternoon, with DU's men's team continuing its
unbeaten streak with a 142 - 120 win over the Tigers while the DU
women's team dropped a 155 - 104 decision in the debut of Pacific's
renovated outdoor pool. DU's men's team has won all five of its meets so
far in 2007.

The men's team captured the first relay event and never looked back, as
junior Blake Worsley (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) dominated his events to
the tune of three consecutive victories. Freshman Garth Summers
(Portland, Ore.) won a pair of events and junior Daniel Vollmer (Ajax,
Ontario), freshman Stephen Pendleton (Northfield, Ill.) and junior Nick
Brunger (Castle Rock, Colo.) each won one as DU remained without a loss
in 2007.

DU's 'A' 200-medley relay team of junior Vollmer, Brunger, Summers and
Pendleton got things going for the Pioneers right off the bat, winning
the first relay race with a  time of 1:33.88.

Worsley got the Pioneers their first win of the day and the first of his
three wins when he captured the 200-freestyle with a time of 1:40.46.
Vollmer followed Worsley with a win in the 100-back (51.78) before
Brunger was just edged by Pacific's David Dunn in the 100-breaststroke.
In the sixth event of the afternoon for the Pioneers, Summers won the
first of his two races by capturing the 200-butterfly with a time of
1:52.13.

Worsley won his second race of the afternoon in the 50-free with a time
of 21.28 and Pendleton won his race one event later by nearly a full
second in the 100-free with a time of 46.83.

Brunger's victory came in the 200-breast in 2:05.98 before Worsley
wrapped up his dominating afternoon with his third and final win, this
one coming in the 500-free with a time of 4:38.46.

On the women's side, the Pioneers got individual wins from sophomore
Lindsay Brown (Allen, Texas), Katy Motsinger (Charleston, S.C.), Michele
Lowry (Hailey, Idaho), and Grace Kittle (Dallas, Texas).

Brown won the 1000-freestyle with a time of 10:17.97 and Motsinger
captured the 100-free in 58.58. Lowry's win came in the 200-backstroke
with a time of 2:06.46 before Kittle wrapped up DU's wins with a victory
in the 200-breast with a time of 2:21.33.

DU is next in action tomorrow, Nov. 10 when they to take on UC-Santa
Cruz at noon.
