The conference office announced Big 12 Swimmers and Divers of the Week for meets from Oct. 22-Nov. 4. Dave Walters (Texas) was awarded Swimmer of the Week for men while fellow teammate, Matt Cooper was awarded Diver of the Week. On the women's side, Maria Mayrovich (Kansas) was named Swimmer of the Week and Kendra Melnychuk (Missouri) received the Diver of the Week accolade. The student-athletes were chosen by vote of the league's head swimming and diving coaches.

Men's Swimmer of the Week
Dave Walters, Texas, So, Yorktown, Va.
Sophomore Dave Walters won two events and registered one NCAA provisional-qualifying time on Nov. 2 in the top-tanked Longhorn's 168.5-131.5 win over No. 5 Michigan and their 181-119 win over No. 8 Indiana. His time of 20.43 in the 50 free also earned him first place honors. On Nov. 3, the sophomore won all five of his freestyle events raising his victory total to seven in the two-day meet.

Men's Diver of the Week
Matt Cooper, Texas, Fr, Bethesda, Md.
In his collegiate debut, freshman Matt Cooper was victorius in both the one and three meter events over No. 5 Michigan and No. 8 Indiana. Cooper topped his nearest competitor in the one-meter event by over 40 points with a score of 365.00.

Women's Swimmer of the Week
Maria Mayrovich, Kansas, Jr, Novorossiysk, Russia
Junior Maria Mayrovich recorded eight victories in a dual meet against Missouri. Her time of 1:48.85 in the 200 free was a pool record, career best and a KU all-time performance. She also broke a pool record in the 100 free with her time of 50.25.

Women's Diver of the Week
Kendra Melnychuk, Missouri, Jr., Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Junior Kendra Melnychuk earned her second weekly accolade of the season as she came out of the Mizzou Dual Challenge with six victories. She won every three-meter challenge and also placed first in three of four one-meter dives.
