Over 3000 Swimmers to Participate Nation Wide
The Johns Hopkins men's and women's swimming teams will participate in the "Hour of Power" on Tuesday, November 6 at 5:00 pm EST in the Newton White Athletic Center. The swim-a-thon will feature an "hour of power" relays, consisting of continuous relays, any stroke, for an hour.
The relay is held in honor of Carleton swimmer Ted Mullin, who passed away in the fall of 2006 from sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer. Funs raised through this event will support research at the University of Chicago into the causes of sarcoma in young people.

About the Ted Mullin Fund for Pediatric Cancer Research:
Funds raised for the Ted Mullin Fund for Pediatric Cancer Research will act as seed funding for the University of Chicago pediatric sarcoma research program, allowing collaborative efforts between clinicians and physician-scientists in the identification of the causes of sarcoma, at the most basic molecular and cellular levels. With a team of dedicated Pediatric oncologists, Orthopedists, and Radiation Therapists in place, the Ted Mullin Fund will support the recruitment of two additional scientists devoted to the study of sarcomas; one to focus on the molecular basis of sarcoma and the other to translate those findings into improved therapies for cancer patients like Ted.
Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, 5 p.m. Eastern/4 p.m. Central or 5 p.m. Mountain/4 p.m. Pacific.
