Akron Women Fall to Miami (OH)

Standout performances today from sophomore Lauren Parr and junior Katie Carter wasn't enough as the Zips fell to the Miami Redhawks 173-119.

After a two-win day yesterday versus Ohio, Parr took home two separate events today and was part of a relay win. She captured the 100-yard butterfly in 59.18 and the 400-yard individual medley in 4:34.28.

Carter, a Mid-American conference favorite in the 1-and 3-meter diving, won both events today with a  score of 322.88 in the 1-meter and 261.98 in the 3-meter portion.

Akron's 'A' and 'B' teams recorded a 1-2 finish in the 800-yard medley relay. The 'A' team made up of Cathryn Collins, Kylie Bombrys, Melissa Gary and Parr took home first with a time of 8:07.16.  The 'B' team of Lauren Wichert, Karan McCaulley, Brigid Wolf and Stephanie Zielinski captured second-place (8:11.59).

Zielinksi also won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.67 beating out Miami's Leila Sloneker by twelve-hundreths of a second.

This was Miami's 48th consecutive MAC dual meet win.

The Zips return home Nov. 9 to compete in a dual meet versus Ball State at 4:00 p.m.
