Whitney Sprague, University of North Carolina
Jr., Bronxville, NY
The North Carolina women's swimming and diving team finished no lower than second place in all seven events in the final day of the Janis Hape Dowd Nike Cup Invitational at Koury Natatorium. The time is an "A" qualifier for the 2008 NCAA Championships. She broke the school record in both the 1000 and 1650 freestyle. Sprague also broke the ACC record for the 1000, set in 2001, and the ACC record for the 1650, set in 2003, both set by Cara Lane of Virginia. She also had a record-breaking performance in the 500 freestyle (4:41.09) Thursday, Sprague took first in the 200 freestyle (1:48.36).

The No. 3 Stanford men's swim team captured their fifth straight Nike Cup Saturday evening with a final score of 1,965 points. Jason Dunford started out the Invite being a part of the winning 200 Freestyle Relay (1:19.71). He was then a part of the record setting 400 Medley Relay (3:13.15) and 200 Medley Relay (1:28.34).
