.: Bucknell Finishes Home Invite Third

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell swimming and diving squad posted one individual win and one relay victory, wrapping up the two-day Bucknell Trials/Finals Invitational on Sunday. The Bison took third out of the five squads who competed in the weekend's action. With 722 points, the Bison finished ahead of Binghamton (289 points) and TCNJ (109), while coming in behind Towson (1294) and James Madison (841).

After setting a program record for one-meter diving on day one, Bersani took first on the three-meter board, recording a personal-best mark of 248.95. She headed up a one-two-three sweep by the Orange and Blue as sophomores Allison FitzPatrick (Berwyn, Pa./Episcopal Academy) and Eliza Massie (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) took second and third with scores of 241.70 and 240.95, respectively.

The Bison 200-yard medley relay team of sophomore Courtney Warren (Montour Falls, N.Y./Watkins Glen), junior Kelly Morris (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen), freshman Molly Goebel (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and sophomore Megan Mongan (Malvern, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) placed first as well, combining for a time of one minute, 48.78 seconds.

Sophomore Lauren Russell (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) was Bucknell's top finisher in both the 400 IM and the 200 back. In the 400 IM, Russell led a group of three Bison who qualified for the "A" final, taking third in 4:37.65, while freshman Sinead O'Dwyer (Green River, Wyo./The Peddie School (N.J.)) was sixth (4:39.71) and freshman Macey Keath (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) placed eighth (4:44.25). Sophomore Abigail Atkinson (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) won the 400 IM  "B" final with a time of 4:39.98.

In the 200 back, Russell captured fourth with a time of 2:11.08 followed by Atkinson in fifth (2:11.16), Warren in seventh (2:13.94) and O'Dwyer in eighth (2:15.65).

Sophomore Megan Mongan (Malvern, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) qualified for the "A" final in two events. She was fourth in the 100 fly with a time of 58.99, the ninth-fastest time in school history. In the 100 free, Mongan placed third in 52.83, while Goebel reached the wall in 54.57, taking eighth.

In the 200 breast, Morris finished fifth with a time of 2:26.00 and Keath took seventh in 2:29.18, rounding out Bucknell's top finishers from day two's action.

Following the Thanksgiving break, the Bison will be back in action on Nov. 30, when the squad will travel to Princeton, N.J., for the three-day Princeton Invitational.
