Northwestern leads Notre Dame, 71-39, and trails No. 19 Wisconsin, 61-49, following the first day of action Friday in a double-dual meet at the Norris Aquatics Center.

The final two sessions of the three-session meet will take place at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Norris Aquatics Center. The event schedule mirrors the Big Ten Championships, while dual-meet scoring is being used.

In the first event Friday, the team of Emily Wong (Nepean, Ontario/St. Joseph's), Andrea Hupman (Lawrenceville, Ga./Brookwood) Hayley Fry (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) and Kassia Shishkoff (Raleigh, N.C./St. David's School) finished second behind Wisconsin in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:34.20.

Teisha Lightbourne (Nassau, Bahamas/Peddie School (N.J.), Katie Eschenburg (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead), Erin Reilly (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) and Stacy Congdon (Windermere, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) came in fourth in the 200 free relay with a 1:35.78 to make NU the only team with relays in the top four.

In the 500 free, Shishkoff came in second behind Wisconsin's Jen Illescas with a 4:53.35. Shishkoff out-touched the Badgers' Gabby Maddalena by .04 seconds for second. Freshman Ellen Grigg (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) was fourth with a 4:55.86 for NU.
 

 
   

Senior Katie Braun (Edina, Minn./Edina) won the 200 IM with a 2:05.29, while Eschenburg took fifth with a 2:08.37. In the 50 free, Wong was the 'Cats' top finisher with a third-place effort of 23.79. Hupman and Lightbourne were with fifth (23.92) and sixth (23.99), respectively.

Northwestern's 400 medley relay squad of Eschenburg, Fry, Braun and Wong swam a 3:46.95 to take second behind Wisconsin's 3:46.72 to round out session one action.

In diving, senior Leanne Dumais (Ventura, Calif./Buena) scored a 309.25 to win the 3-meter board.

In the other dual, Wisconsin leads Notre Dame, 70-40.
