.: Kansas Swimmers Break Three Pool Records in 171-68 Defeat Over Drury

Swimmers Maria Mayrovich, Alicia Casillas and Danielle Herrmann led the University of Kansas swimmers to a 171-68 victory over the Drury Panthers Saturday. The Jayhawks swept all events of the meet. Mayrovich, Casillas and Herrmann each recorded individual victories and broke Breech Pool records in their respective events.
Mayrovich clocked in at a 50.67 in the 100-yard freestyle, breaking the previous Breech Pool record of 50.96, while Herrmann recorded a time of 2:05.77 in the 200-yard IM (previous pool record was 2:06.53). Casillas led the way in the distance free events, recording victories in both the 1000 and 500-yard free events, her time of 10:03.50 in the 1000 free broke another Breech Pool record by nearly 12 seconds, the previous record being 10:15.19.
The Jayhawks' depth in the distance free events gave them an edge over the Panthers. Kansas went 1-2-3-4 in both the 1000-yard free and 500-yard free. Leading the way for the Hawks in the 1000 free behind Casillas was sophomore Ashley Robinson, junior Kendall Matous and junior Megan Lonergan, who finished second, third and fourth, respectively. In the 500 free competition, Casillas finished first, while Robinson, senior Terri Schramka and Lonergan finished two, three and four in the event.
Leading the way on the diving front for Kansas were freshmen Erin Mertz and Chelsea Hartling, along with senior Jenny Roberts and sophomore Meghan Proehl. The four Jayhawks finished first, second, third and seventh in the three-meter competition.
In addition to Proehl's second-place finish on the three-meter board, she recorded a victory on the one-meter board with a score of 269.25.
In other swimming action, junior Ashley Leidigh captured a victory in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.08), while sophomore Carrah Haley led the way for the 'Hawks in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking in at 2:06.39, good for first. Emily Lanteigne captured honors in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53. 22), while both KU relays also took first.
