.: Henderson State Invitational

ARKADELPHIA, AK , November 11th, 2007

The Ouachita Baptist University women’s swimming and diving team took first place, while the men’s team placed second during the Henderson State Invitational held at the Duke Wells Center Friday and Saturday.

The Lady TigerSharks walked away with 397 points, followed by Henderson State in second with 327. Behind host Henderson State was Hendrix (248), John Brown (240) and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (187).

Missouri State won the meet, edging Ouachita Baptist 340-334. behind the TigerSharks was Henderson State (314) and Hendrix (278).

“We won the girls meet pretty easily,” Ouachita Baptist coach Jim Dann said. “I thought that we swam down to the competition somewhat. The UALR meet will be a different story. I just hope that we have enough experience to stay with the team in that meet.

“For the men, Missouri State is a very good Division I team. In the mid-major Division I poll, they are No. 1. We did a good job of staying with them and losing by only six points was good for us. We needed the competition. If you want to be the best, you have to compete against the best.”

Both teams will compete at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Invitational Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
